SOPHIE MABILLE
From this emerges a photographic material, a raw material against which her inner self rubs itself, until a new encounter, like a flash a certainty. This necessary, often significant, period of maturation is at the origin of the construction of her projects. By manipulating this photo material, she uses and combines sometimes unexpected materials, whose fragility she accepts and embraces, giving birth to an artwork free and alive.
This artwork offers the viewer a dimension of the captured material that is not static, allowing the artist to share with them the emotion she has experienced and to draw them into her story.
Topics developed : Sophie Mabille’s works explore personal, contemporary and universal issues such as : perfect conformity, appearances, stifling social conditioning, overcoming the fear of disturbing others, the fear of being oneself…, and identity – its construction and representation, the feminine, “perfect” femininity, sensuality, the relationship to the body, the skin of mineral and vegetal matter,… Glossary : evolving – ephemeral constructions and installations… using living materials, sometimes uncontrollable, ephemeral and fragile,… leaving the paper materials free (unprotected)…
En émerge une matière photographique, une matière première à laquelle se frotte son intime, jusqu’à une nouvelle rencontre, comme un flash une évidence. Ce temps de maturation nécessaire, souvent important, est à l’origine de la construction de ses projets. En manipulant cette matière photo, elle utilise et associe des matériaux parfois inattendus dont elle accepte et assume la fragilité et qui donnent naissance à une oeuvre libre et vivante.
Cette oeuvre livre au spectateur une dimension de la matière captée non figée qui permet à l’artiste de partager avec lui l’émotion qu’elle a vécue et de le faire rentrer dans son histoire.
Sujets abordés : Ses oeuvres interrogent des problématiques personnelles, actuelles et universelles sur : la conformité parfaite, le paraître, le formatage social étouffant, le sortir de la peur de déranger, de la peur d’être soi-même, … et sur : l’identité – sa construction et représentation, le féminin, la féminité «parfaite», la sensualité, le rapport au corps, la peau des matières minérales et végétales, …Glossaire : constructions installations évolutives, éphémères … matières utilisées vivantes, parfois incontrôlables, éphémères et fragiles … laissant les matières du papier libres (sans protection) …
